Ivaran Lines

Erik Holter-Sørensen is the former CEO and President of Ivaran Lines, a containership line that served Europe, U.S. East coast and Gulf, Mexico, Caribbean and South-America since 1925. He is also the architect behind M.V. “Americana”, a container-passenger ship that could carry up to 88 passengers in first-class accommodations for up-to 8 week cruises to real working container ports. Carrying passenger meant that the vessel got berth priority at very congested ports in Brazil.

The vessel first served on U.S. East coast service to South-America, but was later moved to U.S. Gulf service where her capacity of some 1.120 teus was better utilized. “Americana was built at Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea in 1988.

Mr. Holter-Sørensen retired from Ivaran Lines in 1998 when the line was sold to C.P. Ships (Canadian Pacific), and at which time he reiterated his old company, Marine Brokers, where he continues doing consulting and advisory for the maritime industry, incl investments and partnerships.
